The Refinery Life Center began in 2019, and since then 4 additional life centers have begun. Other churches sent teams to experience and help with the investment, leading to their desire for multiplication. There are now 5 Life Centers being supported by 8 churches representing 275 kids. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead!

Meet the Team
Fili and Nidia have been leading The Refinery Life Center since the beginning, 8 years ago. Fili and Nidia were born and raised in Guatemala, now making Chisec their home with their two boys. Fili serves as the Life Center Director, the leadership and organization of all 5 Life Centers in the area, while Nidia is the local director of The Refinery Life Center in La Planada.

John Burley has attended The Refinery for over 15 years. He has a passion for missions and was instrumental in the Life Centers inception. In addition to leading The Refinery missions trips, John serves as the President of the board that helps guide all 5 Life Centers.

Travel with us July 11-18, 2027 to continue our investment in La Planada. The cost will range from $1,600-$2,000. Pre-registration is available, which reserves your spot. Official registration will launch this Fall.
ANNUAL
MISSION TRIP
Life Centers are after school programs created for the purpose of helping kids further their education, receive nourishing meals, and discover Jesus. The Refinery Life Center was the first of its kind, located in the village of La Planada, which supports 72 kids. The program, meets after school two days a week through the consistent investment of teachers, local pastors, and volunteers.
Through The Life Center program we have witnessed God do amazing things. The overall nourishment of the village is increasing, kids are becoming the first in their family to continue on in their education, and many have accepted Jesus into their life.

Additionally, this program doesn’t happen without our sponsorship program. It costs $30 a month to provide this program for 1 kid. This amount also allows us to pay the local teachers and directors for the work they do to sustain the mission week after week.
